Welcome & Announcements
Thank you for worshipping remotely with us. This resource is meant to help the Melrose Chapel family share in worship even though we can't be together in person. May you be blessed today and always.
Call to Worship
Who among you is seeking the wisdom of God?
We long to hear God’s Word spoken to our hearts.
Who among you is seeking God’s bright and holy truth?
We long to learn the ways of wisdom and righteousness.
Who among you is seeking a Spirit-filled life?
We long to live lives of holiness and light.
God grants God’s wisdom generously to all who ask.
Come near, people of God!
Let us worship in wisdom and truth.
Holy God, you granted Solomon's request for an understanding mind and the knowledge to discern good from evil. Fill us with such understanding and knowledge that we may act as instruments of your loving desire for creation, working with you to transform our conceit into concern for others, our fear into love, our violence into peace, and our brokenness into wholeness. Amen.
Be sure to join us on Zoom at 9:00 am on May 10 as we gather for a time of greeting, friendship, prayer, and reflection. Find the link to join at the bottom of this online worship page. Did you miss that time? Not to worry! A recording will be made and placed on this page as well.
Joys & Concerns
What's on your heart today? Do you have worries or concerns? Do you find things to be thankful for? Whatever is in your heart, God wants to hear it. Take this time to prayerfully reflect on your needs and those things for which you are thankful. When you've shared this in prayer and allowed God to sit with you a bit in this time, close your time of prayer with the Lord's Prayer or other words that are upon your heart:
Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, Forever and ever. Amen.
If you have a prayer need that you would like to share, please consider submitting a prayer request here. Please ensure that you have appropriate permission to submit the need. If you need to speak with the pastor concerning this request, please indicate that in your request.
Tithes & Offering
Until we return to in-person worship, please consider mailing in your tithes and offerings. Let us share our gratitude for the grace we have received by giving freely to a world in need of Easter joy.
Holy God, bless the gifts we offer you this day, that they may bring hope and new life to a world that so desperately needs your love, your joy, your peace, your redemption, and your hope. Amen.
Our gospel text is 1 Kings 3:16-38 (If you click the link, it will open up the reading for today and you can read along.)
Consider listening to the following songs/hymns that echo our message for today:
Take Time to be Holy
Great is Thy Faithfulness
Be Thou My Vision
Go forth in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. To God be the glory. Amen!
How has God been speaking to you in the message and the songs? Continue to open your heart and mind to God's will for you and for Melrose Chapel. To God be the glory!
