Welcome & Announcements
Thank you for worshipping remotely with us. This resource is meant to help the Melrose Chapel family share in worship even though we can't be together in person. May you be blessed today and always.
Call to Worship
We gather together to remember,
to once again tell the wonderful stories of our God—
stories we have heard many times before,
and passed down from generation to generation;
stories of faithfulness and love,
of mercy and compassion,
of miracles and new life.
We tell these stories over and over so that we don’t forget.
We tell these stories to remember who we are—people of God.
We tell these stories so that our children and our children’s children
can also come to know and love the God we serve.
Let’s worship together!
Gracious God, on this Memorial Day weekend, we remember and give thanks for those who have given their lives
in the service of our country. When the need was greatest, they stepped forward and did their duty to defend the freedoms that we enjoy, and to win the same for others. Holy One, help us to remember that freedom is not free. May we be reminded of your own Son who hung upon a cross to pay a price for our freedom. May we never forget what He has done and continues to do, in us and through us. Help us to be worthy of the sacrifice, Lord. It is to your glory and in your name, we pray, Amen.
Be sure to join us on Zoom at 9:00 am on May 24 as we gather for a time of greeting, friendship, prayer, and reflection. Find the link to join at the bottom of this online worship page. Did you miss that time? Not to worry! A recording will be made and placed on this page as well.
Joys & Concerns
What's on your heart today? Do you have worries or concerns? Do you find things to be thankful for? Whatever is in your heart, God wants to hear it. Take this time to prayerfully reflect on your needs and those things for which you are thankful. When you've shared this in prayer and allowed God to sit with you a bit in this time, close your time of prayer with the Lord's Prayer or other words that are upon your heart:
Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, Forever and ever. Amen.
If you have a prayer need that you would like to share, please consider submitting a prayer request here. Please ensure that you have appropriate permission to submit the need. If you need to speak with the pastor concerning this request, please indicate that in your request.
Tithes & Offering
Until we return to in-person worship, please consider mailing in your tithes and offerings. Let us share our gratitude for the grace we have received by giving freely to a world in need of joy, hope, and peace.
O God, we recognize that we have been blessed with great abundance. In offering these gifts, may we be strengthened to proclaim your faithfulness this day and always. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Consider listening to the following songs/hymns that echo our message for today:
Remember Me (Mark Schultz w/Ginny Owens)
Go forth in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. To God be the glory. Amen!
How has God been speaking to you in the message and the songs? Continue to open your heart and mind to God's will for you and for Melrose Chapel. To God be the glory!
