Red, White, & You

July 5, 2020

Welcome & Announcements

Thank you for worshipping remotely with us.  As we've now entered a time of in-person worship, we will be recording the live service and posting it hear.  Our hope is that such postings can take place no later than 2:00 pm each Sunday.

Call to Worship

The work of the Creator is visible.
Let us respond with praise.

The example of Jesus is apparent.

Let us respond with obedience.

The wind of the Spirit is blowing

Let us respond with joy.

The word of God is calling.

Let us worship in spirit and in truth.

Opening Prayer

Gracious God, you have made all of the peoples of the earth for your glory. You invite us to serve you in freedom and in peace. Give to the people of our nation a zeal for justice, that we may use our liberty

in accordance with your gracious will. We ask this at a time when we consider our national freedom but more than that, we ask this in the name of the one who welcomes all to be free indeed. Inspire us to live and worship in your freedom and for the sake of your Kingdom. Amen.

~ adapted from the Book of Common Prayer

Friendship Time (now called Chapel Chat)

Be sure to join us on Zoom by phone or by video each Wednesday at 1:00 pm.  This is a time of conversation, simply that we might be in connection with one another.  Chapel Chat will be free-form; that is, there will not be a devotional or time of prayer during that time.  Rather, it's an opportunity to spend time with another that is not ordinarily possible during at-home or in-person worship (where social distance is to be maintained).

The link for this online gathering is:

Those joining by landline phone (toll charges apply) should dial 312-626-6799.

For both, the meeting ID is:   858 1808 3026
A passcode will be required.  That can be found on e-connection or by calling/emailing the church office.

Joys & Concerns

What's on your heart today? Do you have worries or concerns?  Do you find things to be thankful for? Whatever is in your heart, God wants to hear it.  Take this time to prayerfully reflect on your needs and those things for which you are thankful.  When you've shared this in prayer and allowed God to sit with you a bit in this time, close your time of prayer with the Lord's Prayer or other words that are upon your heart:

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, Forever and ever. Amen.

If you have a prayer need that you would like to share, please consider submitting a prayer request here.  Please ensure that you have appropriate permission to submit the need.  If you need to speak with the pastor concerning this request, please indicate that in your request.

Tithes & Offering

For those worshiping remotely, please consider mailing in your tithes and offerings.  Let us share our gratitude for the grace we have received by giving freely to a world in need of joy, hope, and peace.

Offering Prayer

O God, we recognize that we have been blessed with great abundance. In offering these gifts, may we be strengthened to proclaim your faithfulness this day and always.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Go forth into a world in need of God's hope, love, peace, and justice.  Reflect the light of Jesus' love to all. This we ask in the name of our Creator, Sustainer, and Source of Hope.  Amen.
