Call to Worship

Come into God’s presence all who are hungry and thirsty.

We enter into God’s presence with our hungry hearts looking to be filled.

Come into this time of worship seeking the life-giving waters of Jesus.

We gather in the name of Jesus who pours out his goodness and his grace.

Let us worship and bless God’s holy name, who makes an everlasting covenant with us.

Opening Prayer

O God, You are near to all who call upon you. Receive our acts of praise and thanksgiving in this time of worship. You, who supplies all our needs and fill us with abundant blessings, we love you, adore you, and worship you. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Joys & Concerns

If you have a prayer need that you would like to share, please consider submitting a prayer request here.  Please ensure that you have appropriate permission to submit the need.  If you need to speak with the pastor concerning this request, please indicate that in your request.

Pastoral Prayer

Jesus said, 'I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.' This is the promise of God to whom we now pray.

Heavenly Father: thank you for sending your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, to be the Bread of Life for the world.  Forgive us for elevating earthly appetites above devotion to you.  Feed us with the knowledge of Christ so that we recognize our sin and gladly repent in his name. Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

We pray for those whose daily need for healthy food, clean water, and proper shelter goes unmet, and for those misusing what they have in the vain pursuit of pleasure. Feed them with all the good things of Christ for life now and in eternity. Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Have mercy on those whose lives have been broken by violence and crime.  Feed them with hope and a new life in Christ.  Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Feed those who are sick or who find themselves in a season of grief.  And meet the needs of others we know personally to be in want and whom we now name silently in our hearts…Lord, in your mercy: hear our prayer.

Merciful Father, you heard the prayers of your people in the wilderness and fed them bread from heaven despite their sin.  Graciously hear us today and feed us too with the Bread of Life from heaven, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.  Amen.

Tithes & Offering

For those worshiping remotely, please consider mailing in your tithes and offerings.  Let us share our gratitude for the grace we have received by giving freely to a world in need of joy, hope, and peace.

Offering Prayer

These gifts are yours, O Lord. We can return but a fraction of what you have first given us. And yet, you have called us daughters and sons. This work is yours, O Lord. We are but laborers in your fields. And yet, you have called us friends. These hands are yours, O Lord. We reach out but little in comparison to you. And yet, you have called us brothers and sisters. Empower us to give with the joy of children, to labor with the freedom of friends, to touch with the connectedness of family. Be risen in us, that our living may be for you. In Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Holy Communion

The Sharing of the Bread and Cup

You are invited to have your own piece of bread and juice. You may also substitute bread with a cracker, pastry, or even a cookie. For juice, you may substitute it with coffee, tea, milk, or water. This is a symbolic sacramental meal we are eating together while physically apart.

Go from here fed and nourished to live as a faithful disciple of Jesus in your everyday world. Go from here with your eyes open to the needs all around. Go from here to feed the hungry – whether that hunger is a physical one, an emotional one, or a spiritual hunger. Go in peace in love and serve the Lord. Amen.

Chapel Chat

Be sure to join us on Zoom by phone or by video each Wednesday at 6:30 pm.  This is a time of conversation, simply that we might be in connection with one another.  Chapel Chat will be free-form; that is, there will not be a devotional or time of prayer during that time.
