Jesus on the Job:  DayCare Worker
August 30, 2020

Thank you for worshipping remotely with us.  We hope this time will be a blessing to you as we gather to lift our hearts to God in prayer and praise.

  • We rejoice in the baptism of Nathan Roegge, son of Marcus and Emily Roegge.  Pictures to follow soon!

  • Thanks to those of you who have submitted your Ministry Menu.  We are still accepting these so please send those forms in (a copy was included in the August/September issue of the Connecting Link) or you can download a copy here.

  • Volunteers are still needed for our Sunday evening meals at Horizons. Please contact Linda Wensing at 217-257-9899 or the church office (217-224-1302) if you can help serve the community in this way.

  • Please consider becoming part of our Tech Team. Training will be provided. Contact Pastor Nancy for more information.

  • Next Sunday, September 6, we will be celebrating Holy Communion online.  As you view that service, please ensure that you have your elements (bread/juice, or whatever you have handy) nearby so that we may partake together.

Call to Worship

Let us worship God as children…with wonder and awe.

Let us worship God as youth…with questions and eager hearts.

Let us worship God as adults…with gratitude and praise.

Let us worship God as elders…with wisdom and hope.

Let the Body of Christ sing praises to God, from whom all blessings flow.

Opening Prayer

O God, we come to you this day with open hearts.  Let us trust in your power, even as it is often found in weakness; in your wisdom, even as it is expressed in seeming foolishness; in your wholeness, even as it comes to us amid brokenness. Touch us this day, O Lord, that we might become your saints, your body, your children, your church.  May the Holy Spirit work in us and through us each and every day.  In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Joys & Concerns

If you have a prayer need that you would like to share, please consider submitting a prayer request here.  Please ensure that you have appropriate permission to submit the need.  If you need to speak with the pastor concerning this request, please indicate that in your request.

Tithes & Offering

For those worshiping remotely, please consider mailing in your tithes and offerings.  Let us share our gratitude for the grace we have received by giving freely to a world in need of joy, hope, and peace.

Offering Prayer

These gifts are yours, O Lord. We can return but a fraction of what you have first given us. And yet, you have called us daughters and sons. This work is yours, O Lord. We are but laborers in your fields. And yet, you have called us friends. These hands are yours, O Lord. We reach out but little in comparison to you. And yet, you have called us brothers and sisters. Empower us to give with the joy of children, to labor with the freedom of friends, to touch with the connectedness of family. Be risen in us, that our living may be for you. In Christ Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Scripture:  Mark 10:13-16

May the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be among you and abide in you, now and evermore.  Amen.

Chapel Chat

Be sure to join us on Zoom by phone or by video each Wednesday at 6:30 pm.  This is a time of conversation, simply that we might be in connection with one another.  Chapel Chat will be free-form; that is, there will not be a devotional or time of prayer during that time.
