August 9, 2020

Thank you for worshipping remotely with us.  We hope this time will be a blessing to you as we gather to lift our hearts to God in prayer and praise.

  • Ministry Menus are due no later than August 23. You can mail them in or drop them off at the church office.

  • If you did not receive your printed newsletter or if you would like to be added to the mailing list, please notify us.

  • We still have Georgia Nuts available with tins and pecan logs on sale now.

  • Volunteers are still needed for our Sunday evening meals at Horizons. Please contact Linda Wensing or the church office if you can help serve the community in this way.

Call to Worship

With a song of praise on our lips,
we come to worship God.
With the love of God in our hearts,
we come to worship God.
With a commitment to usher in God’s kingdom,
we come to worship God.
With all that we are and all we can be,
we go forth with God.

Opening Prayer

Our gracious and ever loving God, we come in the midst of summer looking for refreshment. We rest in the knowledge of the wonderful works you have done for us, and of the deep and abiding love you have for us and for all God’s people. Search our hearts. Fill our soul with your indwelling Spirit who whispers to our soul that all will be well if we but trust in you. Shine your light before us, that we may see our path to you and to your kingdom on earth. Amen.

Friendship Time (now called Chapel Chat)

Be sure to join us on Zoom by phone or by video each Wednesday at 6:30 pm.  This is a time of conversation, simply that we might be in connection with one another.  Chapel Chat will be free-form; that is, there will not be a devotional or time of prayer during that time.  Rather, it's an opportunity to spend time with another that is not ordinarily possible during at-home or in-person worship (where social distance is to be maintained).

The link for this online gathering is:

Those joining by landline phone (toll charges apply) should dial 312-626-6799.

For both, the meeting ID is:   878 2675 2751
A passcode will be required.  That can be found on e-connection or by calling/emailing the church office.

Joys & Concerns

If you have a prayer need that you would like to share, please consider submitting a prayer request here.  Please ensure that you have appropriate permission to submit the need.  If you need to speak with the pastor concerning this request, please indicate that in your request.

Tithes & Offering

For those worshiping remotely, please consider mailing in your tithes and offerings.  Let us share our gratitude for the grace we have received by giving freely to a world in need of joy, hope, and peace.

Offering Prayer

O God, we recognize that we have been blessed with great abundance. In offering these gifts, may we be strengthened to proclaim your faithfulness this day and always.  We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

May we find the spiritual strength to help those who are struggling through this day. Whether a neighbor, relative, stranger or friend, where we see a need, rather than walk away may we stop awhile and share a hand, a listening ear, a smile, a prayer, compassion, love, just as Jesus would do.  We do this in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Amen.
