Unless I See

Welcome & Announcements
Thank you for worshipping remotely with us. This resource is meant to help the Melrose Chapel family share in worship even though we can't be together in person. May you be blessed today and always.
Call to Worship
Alleluia! Christ is risen!
Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!
We have not seen the risen Christ,
but we see him in the lives of those transformed by grace.
We have not seen Jesus face-to-face,
but we have seen him in the faces of everyone whose love encourages us.
We have not touched the wounds from the cross,
but we have been called to bring healing to the scarred of the world.
O Holy God, it's the Sunday after Easter; many of the celebrations have passed and we are alone with our faith. In scripture, Thomas said: "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe." On this Sunday after Easter, help us, O Lord, to grow into the faith that we confessed and celebrated last week. Reveal evidence of your resurrection for the days when we feel that we are alone with our faith. In Jesus’ precious name we pray, Amen.
Be sure to join us on Zoom at 9:00 am on April 19 as we gather for a time of greeting, friendship, prayer, reflection and sharing of Holy Communion. Find the link to join at the bottom of this online worship page. Did you miss that time? Not to worry! A recording will be made and placed on this page as well.
Joys & Concerns
What's on your heart today? Do you have worries or concerns? Do you find things to be thankful for? Whatever is in your heart, God wants to hear it. Take this time to prayerfully reflect on your needs and those things for which you are thankful. When you've shared this in prayer and allowed God to sit with you a bit in this time, close your time of prayer with the Lord's Prayer or other words that are upon your heart:
Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, Forever and ever. Amen.
If you have a prayer need that you would like to share, please consider submitting a prayer request here. Please ensure that you have appropriate permission to submit the need. If you need to speak with the pastor concerning this request, please indicate that in your request.
Tithes & Offering
Until we return to in-person worship, please consider mailing in your tithes and offerings. God still seeks to bless others through the gifts you provide. We have been blessed mightily by the Lord. Let us share our gratitude for the grace we have received by giving freely to a world in need of Easter joy.
Holy God, as we continue to celebrate your Easter miracle of bringing life out of death, we express our gratitude and joy for the new life budding within us and all around us. Bless the gifts we offer you this day, that they may bring hope and new life to a world that so desperately needs redemption and grace. Amen.
Our gospel text is John 2:13-22 (If you click the link, it will open up the reading for today and you can read along.)
Consider listening to the following songs/hymns that echo our message for today:
Open My Eyes, That I May See
Sweet Hour of Prayer
To God be the Glrory
Trust and love the Christ you cannot see and let that bring you joy, for that faith will bring the salvation of your soul. May the love of God, the peace of Christ and the comfort of the Holy Spirit be yours this day.
How has God been speaking to you in the message and the songs? Continue to open your heart and mind to God's will for you and for Melrose Chapel. To God be the glory!
