Bill was born in Brooklyn, New York, and lived in the Panama Canal Zone during high school as his father worked as chief engineer for the Panama Canal. He was a staff sergeant for the US Army for seven years before answering a call to pastor. Pastor Bill was a pastor for the Church of the Nazarene for twenty years. He was ordained an elder with the Church of the Nazarene, which was recognized by the United Methodist Church when he became an associate member of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference in 2001. Bill has been pastoring for the United Methodist Church since 1993. His spiritual gifts are in the area of preaching and teaching. He especially likes teaching Bible Studies.
His wife, Maralee, is a pastor’s daughter and was born in Beardstown, IL., and raised in Illinois all of her life. She attended Olivet Nazarene University and later graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree. Maralee is a consecrated deaconess with the Church of the Nazarene and enjoys working with all ages of the church.
The Renner’s have two sons, Charliam, who is a pastor of the Sullivan First UMC, and Shalom, who is pastor of the Greenville First UMC.
The ministry of Pastor Bill & Maralee has always been known for it’s joy and good humor. Their philosophy is that it is always easier for the pastor to adjust to a congregation then for 150 or more people to adjust to one pastor.
